Get a Taste of Mendocino

How often does a county pick itself up and move to your backyard so that you can enjoy it more easily? Not often. One should take an advantage of such opportunities. Especially if said county is full of really good wine, artisanal food producers and artists. That’s why I’ll be attending Taste of Mendocino this coming Monday in San Francisco. You should too.

What is Taste of Mendocino?

Taste of Mendocino is almost like a single-night Mendocino County fair, but held at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavillion in San Francisco. You will taste Mendocino wine, craft brew and artisanal cheeses. You can ogle slabs of grass-fed beef and lamb. And you can buy all this stuff to take home, because Taste Mendocino isn’t just a showcase, it’s also a market.

In between savory bites and smooth sips, check out the paintings, ceramics, jewelry and more produced by Mendocino artists. Be wowed by the high-flying feats of the Flynn Creek Circus. Walk through a mini-forest of 3,000 live young redwood trees. Learn more about “America’s Greenest Wine Region,” which is also one of Northern California’s best spots for long-weekends and week-long get-aways. Hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, kayak tour companies and more will be there with information. More than 130 businesses will be represented, including 60+ wineries.

Taste of Mendocino sounds like a great way to get over the Monday back-to-work blahs. I hope to meet you there.
